Pretty Maids - Future World (1987)

Whenever we need to resort to two styles to define the sound of a band as blues / rock, gothic / symphonic, hard / heavy, etc., there is one that prevails. But in the case of Pretty Maids, Future World and more specifically of that, I'm in doubt every time I hear ... it's heavy? is hard rock?

Well, regardless of classification problems, which are in fact a big mistake, the sound of Danish is far, far above average. The voice of Ronnie Atkins is the embodiment of this duality heavy / hard because the way it sounds very melodic and smooth, it is ripped and powerful few seconds later.

 

Highlighting the work of guitar bands in the suit of Pretty Maids is rain in the wet. Every good band of hard or heavy has a good guitarist, otherwise it would not be good! I will then highlight the work of keyboards in the band, headed by Alan Owen. The guy knows the right place to put the keys,  and the final result of mixing with the guitars are loud and powerful!

Sempre que precisamos lançar mão de dois estilos para definir o som de uma banda, como blues/rock, gótico/sinfônico, hard/heavy, etc, existe um que prevalece. Mas no caso do Pretty Maids, mais especificamente desse Future World, fico em dúvida toda vez que escuto...é heavy? é hard rock?

Bem, independente desses problemas classificatórios, que no fundo são uma grande besteira, o som desses dinamarqueses é muito,  muito acima da média. O vocal de Ronnie Atkins é a encarnação dessa dualidade heavy/hard, pois da mesma forma que soa bem melódico e suave, torna-se rasgado e poderoso alguns segundos depois.

Destacar trabalhos de guitarra em bandas do naipe do Pretty Maids é chover no molhado. Toda boa banda de hard ou de heavy tem um bom guitarrista, do contrário não seria boa!  Vou destacar então o trabalho de teclados da banda, a cargo de Alan Owen. O cara sabe colocar muito bem a tecladeira, e o resultado final da mixagem com as guitarras é um som alto e poderoso!
